It's been a while since I've posted a blog entry, but the past few months have been busy crossing time zones and my scattered mind has been busily pulling things out of my proverbial ass.
First off, four paintings from the Red & Gold series I did back in 2018, is currently being exhibited in a group show at called Everyday Practices at the Singapore Art Museum from 30 August 2024 to 24 July 2025. The show is curated by Haeju Kim and Yenhui Teng, and it's based on the durational work that Taiwanese artist Tehching Hsieh did back in the early 1980s, so a lot of the works in the show deals with themes of time, memory, endurance and resilience. It's my first museum show ever so I'm really happy about it. :-)
Secondly, I am currently doing a 3-month arts residency at basis Frankfurt in Germany. The residency is part of an annual exchange program between basis Frankfurt and LostGens Contemporary in Kuala Lumpur, with support from the Goethe Institut. This year's residency had a special focus on Sabah (my home state!) and I got it! It's my first residency ever so I'm really happy about this as well. :-)
As part of my residency here in Frankfurt, I'll be ending this year with a solo show in December. More on that later.
